Dear customers

On Friday, February 22nd, 2008, between the hours of 12 noon and 6 pm PST (GMT -8) we will be moving your hosting to a new facility. During this process, we are upgrading the hardware and moving the server to a nearby colocation facility to simultaneously improve your performance and the level of service that we can provide. We expect the move to take approximately six hours and will have all of our hosting staff on hand to make this transition as smooth as possible. The benefit to you is that your new server will be within walking distance of the Planet Argon office, allowing us to provide you with even better service.

Server Affected:

1. with IP 64.34.164.77 (hosting2.planetargon.com) will become 198.145.115.102.

HOW YOU SHOULD PREPARE:

• Verify, and if necessary update, the contact information we have on file by emailing billing@planetargon.com

• Change your IP address, if you’re currently responsible for managing your own DNS. If we are managing it, we will update your DNS for you.

• Shut down your applications and databases. We request that you do this at least 10 minutes before the start of the scheduled maintenance time.

• Contact support@planetargon.com with any questions or concerns.

Unfortunately, this move didn’t happen as anticipated last week. We had a few ongoing problems with other servers that forced us to delay this particular move. We are now ready to do the final move, however. All of the details are the same as shown above, except that it will be taking place today (Tuesday, February 26th). If you experience any issues after 6 pm PST please contact support and we will get the issue resolved as quickly as possible.

We are beginning to take down hosting2 now. We will be posting updates here as we go along.

Ok, everything is back up. The DNS entries have all been updated and the server is now running at our new facility. You may have some difficulty accessing things if the DNS hasn’t been propagated to your local nameserver yet.
